Thyroid - the Organ with Numerous Tasks

Our thyroid is particularly important for our organism. It produces the hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), which are essential for many growth processes and our metabolism. Iodine and selenium are essential trace elements as they contribute to normal production of thyroid hormones[1] and normal thyroid function[2]. According to current scientific findings, the two trace elements are often not sufficiently absorbed through everyday food.

The National Nutrition Survey II (NVS II) of the Max Rubner Institute (MRI) shows that 97% of women and 96% of men do not reach the reference values for sufficient iodine intake without explicit supplementation.¹ The Robert Koch Institute also confirms these figures in its report on health in Germany.² Most recently, the German Federal Office for Risk Assessment (BfR) has warned of a declining iodine supply in the German population.³.

The reason for the suboptimal supply in Germany is that the soil is poor in iodine and selenium. As a result, the two trace elements are not sufficiently present in either plant or animal products. To ensure an adequate supply, an average adult needs 100 mcg of selenium and about 200 mcg of iodine per day.

IMPORTANT MINERAL SUPPLY

Athletes must pay special attention to their needs

Due to increased activity, an adequate mineral supply is of particular importance for athletes. A loss of 30-50 mcg of iodine per liter can be detected only through sweating. Depending on the level of activity and environmental conditions, sweat loss and thus iodine loss vary. The average sweat loss is one liter per hour. The numbers speak for themselves - you can support your body in the best possible way with a supplementary intake of iodine and selenium.

Perfect adaption to your situation

Due to the suboptimal supply and the recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (DGE), ESN T3 Support contains 150 mcg iodine and 82.5 mcq selenium. Thus, one tablet is dosed in such a way that an overdose is avoided when taken correctly and you are still - even as an active person - perfectly supplied with the two essential trace elements.
